All Saint’s Cathedral Main Choir

The next choir workshop was held on the evening of June 20th with the main choir of All Saint’s Cathedral. One of the choral pieces discussed in this workshop was Samuel S. Wesley’s Wash me thoroughly. In this imaginatively constructed anthem, we focused on intervals, chromatics and careful observance of expression marks, particularly in areas where voices entered one after another to produce a cumulative growth of harmonic sound. Word painting, tempo, and learning a song by recognizing the methods of composition were among other concepts discussed. Mr. Francis Olude, a full-time music teacher at Kenton College, is the choir master of this great choir of twenty-three men and women.
